Nicole
Hunfeld

Principal Investigator ESCH-R

Who am I and what do I do?

I am Nicole Hunfeld and I am the Principal Investigator of ESCH-R. I’m guiding this large research group on circularity in hospitals. Our focus is on implementing circularity in hospitals and transforming the healthcare sector into a more circular and sustainable system.

I am also the Vice President of KNMP, Research Program Coordinator for Duurzaam Erasmus MC, Associate Professor at Erasmus MC, Chief Sustainability Officer & Governance, ICU Hospital Pharmacist at Erasmus MC, and Member of the Supervisory Board in Healthcare.

What am I up to during ESCH-R?

I’m the Principal Investigator, overseeing the overall direction of the research and ensuring that circularity in hospitals becomes a reality. I work across different work packages, facilitating collaboration between researchers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders to drive systemic change.

What do I expect to accomplish within ESCH-R?

I would like to accomplish that and the end of the project, circularity in hospitals has become normal and routine.

This requires transdisciplinary collaborations from many disciplines and stakeholders. Understanding each other’s language and co-creation are key in transitions.

The ESCH-R consortium supports this and is creating the next generation of green leaders in research.
