Workpackage 3: “How We Act” is ready to start!

October 30, 2024

We’re excited to welcome our two new PhD candidates, Shalvi Thakur and Heidi Annala, each bringing a new perspective to the ESCH-R research on circular practices and behavioural interventions in hospitals.

Shalvi, who started on September 1st, will spend this year conducting a preliminary field experiment next to diving into research master courses. Her focus? Unpacking the barriers at the individual level that lead to unsustainable workplace behaviours. She’ll explore gaps in knowledge, intention, and action when it comes to environmental impact and help co-creating behavioural interventions.

Heidi will join the team on November 1st in Wageningen. She’ll develop her research proposal first and then kick off her first fieldwork, investigating social practices in healthcare settings, like Intensive Care Unit-routines. Her research will bridge individual behaviours and larger institutional contexts, focusing on material use and the meanings attached to these practices.

The team, led by workpackage leader Bas van Vliet from Wageningen University and Research, will be collaborating soon with practitioners from hospitals to craft plans for investigating current practices and potential interventions for circular material use.

Workpackage 3 focuses on: “How We Act: Analysis on the hospital culture and practices of care professionals, and creating behavioral interventions towards circular material use”.
