TU Delft students challenging circularity in hospitals

January 6, 2025

As part of the programme Engineering and Policy Analysis MSc at TU Delft’s Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management, students recently took on the international grand challenge of “making hospitals circular.”

The students had to analyse the problem with a systems lens, understanding the main dilemmas for policymakers and practitioners, to tackle the blocks to circularity in hospitals. Working in five groups of 5-6 students, they identified the main interventions that could be implemented, the trade-offs between interventions, the key actors and decision-makers in the system, and potential coalitions that could be formed.

The course was run by Saba Hinrichs-Krapels (Supervisor for Workpackage 1) and Haiko van der Voort, who are part of the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management.
