Prof. Erik van Raaij introduces elementary school children to circulate the ideas of the ESCH-R consortium

On May 23, The Erasmus University’s Science Hub hosted Meet the Professor. During this day, professors of the EUR went into the city by bike to various elementary schools to introduce children to the work and research of a professor.
Prof. Erik van Raaij went with them to the Klimophoeve (Catholic elementary school for Dalton education) in Bleiswijk and took along a number of single-use disposables from the hospital to propagate the ideas of the ESCH-R consortium.
Introduction to science
In the weeks leading up to the professor’s visit, the children receive so-called quests in class that introduce them to the professor coming to their class. In this way, the children are introduced to science according to the principles of inquiry-based learning.
Meeting with a professor
The students engage with the professor about the professor’s field of study. In preparation, the students have been able to think of enough curious questions for the professor that they will get answers to in this meeting. The children will still amaze the professor with their knowledge and expertise!
