ESCH-R WP4 Conference paper

December 19, 2025

The ESCH-R research team from Eindhoven University of Technology, composed of Jacopo Parma, Vikrant Sihag, Duygu Keskin, and Myriam Cloodt (Open Universiteit), presented their ongoing work at the India Management Research Conference (IMRC), held in Ahmedabad from 5 to 7 December 2025.

The paper, titled “Toward Conceptual Clarity in Circular Business Model: A Conceptual Model Integrating Archetypes, R-Strategies, Value Chain and Product Categories”, was presented within the Corporate Sustainability and Corporate Governance track, with a strong emphasis on Integrating Sustainability into Business Strategies and Practice.

The presentation, delivered by Vikrant Sihag on behalf of the research team, introduced a conceptual model that systemically links circular business model innovation archetypes with the 10R framework, value-chain stages, and product categories. The work aims to provide greater conceptual clarity in the circular business model literature while explicitly addressing the persistent gap between design and implementation. The proposed model offers actionable insights for Original Equipment Manufacturers and other stakeholders by supporting the selection and implementation of suitable circular business models based on contextual conditions. In addition, it contributes to improved coordination among actors in circular value networks by clarifying shared incentives and responsibilities.

The work received positive feedback from the conference audience, particularly regarding its ambition, integrative nature, and potential contribution to both academic research and managerial practice. The presentation also represented an important opportunity to further increase visibility of the ESCH-R consortium.
