Showcasing Circular Design at the Medical Packaging Conference

October 21, 2025

On October 7th, during the opening day of the Medical Packaging Conference (MPC) 2025 in Frankfurt, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jan Carel Diehl represented ESCH-R as an invited panelist in Session 4: “Transforming Healthcare Through Safe and Sustainable by Design.”

His participation was made possible through the ENKORE project, which is part of the MPC Program Committee. On behalf of the ESCH-R project Jan Carel presented the Material Flow Analysis of Medication at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Erasmus MC and the ESCH-R Circular Medical Packaging cases which are currently under development. The session sparked valuable discussions on how the sector can transition towards safer, more sustainable materials and processes.

The MPC is a leading conference on medical packaging bringing together professionals from across the healthcare value chain. From materials providers and medical device companies to hospitals, recyclers, and regulators. This year’s edition focused on the latest trends and challenges in medical packaging; regulation and sustainability, clinical considerations, design, sterilization, and manufacturing.
