The third Community of Practice for nurses and educators, moderated by Dr. Ellen Bakker (WP6 lead), took place on Thursday 18 September, 2025. During the one-hour online meeting, presenter Rienke de Jong (nurse) shared the results of her practice-based research and Ilona Zuurmond (Arts & Leefstijl) presented the ‘Handreiking Leefstijlroer en Duurzaamheid 2.0′.

Sustainability in the Obstetrics Department

Rienke de Jong 

Rienke de Jong, nurse and recent graduate of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, presents the results of her practice-based research. This study was carried out on behalf of ESCH-R and the Green Team of the Obstetrics Department at Erasmus MC. She shared how she gathered ideas for making healthcare more sustainable in an accessible way and how she engaged colleagues in a positive and inspiring dialogue.

‘Handreiking Leefstijlroer en Duurzaamheid 2.0’

Ilona Zuurmond 

Ilona Zuurmond, strategic advisor at Arts & Leefstijl and Coalitie Leefstijl in de Zorg, presented the ‘Handreiking Leefstijlroer en Duurzaamheid 2.0’ (Lifestyle Compass and Sustainability 2.0 Guide), an addition to the existing Lifestyle Compass. The guide includes practical lifestyle advice that nurses and physicians can discuss with patients to simultaneously improve both health and environmental outcomes by reducing the ecological impact.
